Social project of active tourism development “Let’s travel around Kherson region”
The social project was initiated by the teachers of Tourism Department of the KSU in the spring of 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of Kherson State University.
The initiators saw a mission of the project in the formation of a new quality of social and physical existence of the individual as a result of personal rethinking of the attitude to nature, history, culture of native land on the basis of the use of active forms of leisure. In addition, the project was considered as a “platform” for social communication in the field of tourism.
The goals of the project:
- promotion of active types of tourism among residents and guests of Kherson region;
- evaluation of potential tourist sites, development and systematization of tourist excursion routes with different types of active movement - by foot, by bicycle, by water, combined;
- intensification of community efforts to protect the environment, preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Kherson region.

Kherson Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Lore of Ukraine.
Project Coordinators:

- Oleksiy Makienko - PhD in History, Associate Professor of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Business Department of Kherson State University, Head of the Kherson Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Lore of Ukraine, Secretary of the Commission on Tourism Studies of the National Union of Local Lore of Ukraine.
- Vadim Yaroviy - Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Business Department of Kherson State University, responsible Secretary of the Kherson Regional Organization of the National Union of Local Lore in Ukraine.

Target audience: residents and guests of Kherson region.
Main directions of project implementation:
- Conducting scientific and security expeditions in the territory of Kherson region.
- Organizing hiking activities (walking tours) within the city of Kherson and the region.
- Organization of bicycle walks in the suburbs of Kherson and adjacent areas of the Kherson region.
- Organizing water walks in the lower Dnieper with the use of kayaks, kayaks, yachts and more. watercraft.
- Organization of thematic bus-pedestrian excursions in the South of Ukraine.
Expected results:
- Involvement of residents and guests of Kherson region in active forms of leisure activities.
- Expanding the network of tourist excursion routes in the region.
- Revitalization of the local lore movement and conservation work, formation of environmental awareness of the population.
- Increasing the level of tourist attraction of Kherson region.
