In the context of the competence paradigm, the training of future biologists is implemented through the organic unity of general and professional competencies. Obtaining general competencies (soft skills competencies) in the pedagogical and scientific-methodological literature is interpreted as a set of knowledge, skills and abilities that are universal and the importance of which only increases and is updated over time. Unlike professional competencies, soft skills competencies are focused on the harmonious development of the individual, the formation of generally accepted characteristics of a person and a specialist in the global world. According to the professional standard 09 Biology, the general competencies include: the ability to work in an international context; the ability to use information and communication technologies; the ability to generate new ideas (creativity); the ability to act on the basis of ethical considerations (motives); the ability to develop and manage projects; the ability to conduct research at the appropriate level. The formation of the above-mentioned general competencies (soft skills competencies) during the professional development of future biologists is designed at the Departments of Botany and human biology and immunology.
