The scientific direction of the laboratory is the problems of formation of theoretical biological knowledge of schoolchildren, activation of cognitive activity of primary school students in biology and chemistry. The Laboratory of General Biology Methodology together with the Laboratory of Multimedia Technologies participates in the state budget topic on computer support of the school biology course.

The laboratory has cooperation agreements with the Scientific and Methodological Center of the Ternopil State Pedagogical University and the Laboratory of Biological and Chemical Education of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.
Participation of students in the work of the laboratory: on the basis of the laboratory there is a student group "Biologist-Methodist", course, bachelor's, diploma and master's theses (25-30 annually). Students participate in long-term experimental research (from 2 to 3 years). Annually works for the external competition of student's scientific works are made out.
The results of experimental work of the laboratory are of practical importance: introduced into the educational process of secondary schools in Kherson, the Center for Pre-University Training and the Faculty of Biology, Geography and Ecology, Faculty of Psychology, History, Sociology KSU, Academic Lyceum at KSU, which led to improving the quality of education. process in these schools, improved the process of forming students' theoretical knowledge of biology in primary school.
