On May 6, Associate Professor, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Algebra, Geometry and Mathematical Analysis Valery Ivanovich Kuzmych held an open lecture on the topic "Strange" properties of distance" for future applicants of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Physics and Mathematics and everyone else.
During the lecture, the method of forming basic geometric concepts in the school mathematics course was presented.
The listeners had the opportunity to learn about the relativity of such concepts as a point, the distance between points, the length of a line, the rectilinear arrangement of points, an angle, the flat arrangement of points. The lecturer talked about methods of formation of basic geometric concepts among schoolchildren, gave relevant examples.
The listeners were introduced to the basics of metric geometry, which makes it possible to consider both classical Euclidean geometry and non-Euclidean geometries from the same point of view.
