Representatives of KSU Visited the University of Helsinki

The second day of the partner meeting within the “Academies4Ukraine - Strengthen Higher Education Resilience in Ukraine and European Union” project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, took place in Helsinki, Finland. The event was attended by the Rector of Kherson State University (KSU), Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, and the Head of the International Initiatives and Project Management Department, Yevheniia Revenko.

The KSU delegation received a warm welcome at the University of Helsinki, which hosts around 40,000 students across 11 faculties. During the visit, the delegation met with Marjaana Seppälä, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Founded in 1640, the University of Helsinki is recognized as the best university in Finland.

We are grateful to Vilma Nihti and Mariia Fursina for the tour. While preparing for this visit, I explored the university’s official website and was impressed to find a dedicated section on Ukraine, volunteer activities, academic mobility, and support for Ukrainian students. Today, we also had the opportunity to meet with our fellow Ukrainians studying here in Helsinki, who spoke warmly about the country, the university, and their professors,” said Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.

The meeting included a presentation of the guidebook "How to Implement a University Student Psychological Support Program", which is part of the three-year Academies4Ukraine project. Developed by researchers at the University of Helsinki, the guide will be distributed among all project partners.

During the final session, moderated by Gianluca Vagnarelli, the founder of i-strategies (the coordinating organization of Academies4Ukraine), discussions focused on the next steps and new directions for project implementation.

We sincerely thank Mr. Gianluca Vagnarelli, the University of Helsinki, and the Erasmus+ Programme for this invaluable experience, for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and opportunities. We appreciate the organization of the partner meeting and the optimism with which we continue to build our partnership—both within the European Union and in Ukraine,” concluded Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
