KSU Representatives Begin Visit to Germany as Part of the Erasmus+ BURN Project
The Department of Psychology at Kherson State University (KSU) has embarked on a week-long training visit to the International Psychoanalytic University (IPU) in Berlin, Germany.
The delegation includes Professor Ihor Popovych, project coordinator, Associate Professor Nataliia Tavrovetska, project lecturer and content developer, and Lecturer Valentyna Kalenchuk, coordinator of the Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing Center.
This visit is part of the EU Erasmus+ program under the "Development of Higher Education Potential" initiative, within the project "Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Well-being in (Post-)War Ukrainian Nation" (101129379 – BURN – ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE).
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Lars Kulchinke, the host coordinator from IPU Berlin. Alongside KSU, the project brings together higher education institutions from Ukraine, Latvia, and Estonia.
Professor Birgit Stürmer, Vice-President of IPU, delivered a welcome speech. Yurii Nesterko, Head of the Research Department, presented the work of ZENTRUM ÜBERLEBEN (Survival Center), which supports the rehabilitation and integration of refugees and migrants. The work of the Center is accompanied by scientific research and the development of approaches for diagnosing and documenting the causes, consequences, and treatment of injuries. Karmen Scheer, Head of IPU's International Department, shared her experience with the project "Social Trauma in Changing Societies" (2012–2024). Professor Andreas Hamburger and colleagues, showcasing findings from years of studies on social trauma, its diagnosis, and psychotherapy approaches.
