KSU Updates Educational Programs as Part of the BURN Project

As part of the EU Erasmus+ program under the "Development of Higher Education Potential" initiative, the Department of Psychology at Kherson State University (KSU) is leading efforts to modernize educational and research programs in psychology. This work is being carried out within the framework of the project "Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Well-being in (Post-)War Ukrainian Nation" (101129379 – BURN – ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE)


In 2024, the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in psychology were revised and successfully passed expert evaluation and approval by the university administration. Work is also underway to update PhD-level educational and research programs, which require modifications across all doctoral specializations at KSU.

The development, piloting, and implementation of educational courses are carried out at:

• Bachelor’s Level (BA) – for the educational program "Psychology," the title of the academic course is "Crisis Online Counseling" (3 ECTS, taught in Ukrainian)
o Lead developer: Ruslana Bilous, project lecturer.
• Master’s Level (MA) – for the educational program "Psychology," the title of the academic course is "Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy for Trauma" (3 ECTS, taught in English)
o Lead developer: Valentyna Kalenchuk, project lecturer.
• PhD Level – for all educational programs leading to a PhD," the title of the academic course is "Working with Refugees and Survivors of War" (0.5 ECTS, taught in English)
o Lead developer: Anzhelika Kolli-Shamne, project lecturer.

Weekly coordination meetings are held with all partner universities of the project, along with webinars on syllabus development, task formulation, and defining the learning outcomes of educational components, as well as discussions on course topics. Project instructors follow a structured task algorithm for developing syllabus content and ensuring its alignment with European standards.
