At Kherson State University, the New Erasmus+ Project SAFER Was Presented

A working meeting dedicated to the launch of the SAFER Project — “Sustainable Agri-Futures: Empowering Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Higher Education” took place at Kherson State University (KSU).
The meeting was attended by Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, Rector of Kherson State University; Veronika Denysenko, Vice-Rector for International, Social and Humanitarian, Research and Education Affairs; Yevheniia Revenko, Head of the International Relations Department, together with her team; and Professor Ivan Moysiyenko, KSU coordinator of the SAFER project.
According to Professor Ivan Moysiyenko, the project has recently started and focuses on addressing food security challenges caused by large-scale climate change. The aim is to improve education in agricultural regions and prepare qualified specialists and researchers capable of sharing their expertise at the local level.
“We have a specific regional context - Kherson region has historically been an area of risk farming. We also face an additional challenge caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir by Russian forces and the loss of a major water source for the agricultural sector. Therefore, the project addresses not only climate change but also the consequences of war-related environmental damage — an act of ecocide. The first year of the project will focus on studying the current situation and assessing the training of the necessary specialists,” emphasized the coordinator.
Yevheniia Revenko, Head of the International Relations Department, gave a detailed presentation of the project’s work packages, outlining timelines and expected results.
The SAFER project brings together partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Egypt, and Jordan to jointly tackle sustainable development and climate change challenges through the modernization of agricultural education.
