On October 15, 2025, Natalia Kuzovova, Head of the Department of History, Archaeology, and Teaching Methods, presented a paper titled “Memory of the Holodomor and the Russian-Ukrainian War” within the panel “Russian/Soviet Imperial Continuity and the Politics of Annihilation: From the Holodomor to the Russia-Ukraine War and the Battle of Memory” at the international conference The War and Beyond: Perspectives on Ukrainian Culture and Society, hosted by the University of Bergen (Norway) with the support of Ukrainett+ (https://uni.oslomet.no/ukrainett/) and the Norwegian Research Council (https://www.forskningsradet.no/en/).
The event was held under the patronage of the Rectorate of the University of Bergen and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Norway. The presentation addressed urgent issues related to the destruction of memorials to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 in the occupied territories of Ukraine, the impact of the war on the preservation of the Holodomor’s historical memory, and the appeal for the recognition of the Holodomor as an act of genocide.

This year’s conference became a remarkable academic event, bringing together scholars from Norway, Ukraine, Germany, and Finland to discuss the future of Ukrainian society and culture, fostering new connections and collaborative initiatives.
