Saturday, December 20, 2025

As part of the week of full-time study, applicants and teachers of the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology on December 17 took part in a meeting with veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which was dedicated to issues of security, communication and information stability in war conditions.

The event was held with the assistance of the Department for Support of War Veterans and Demobilized Persons of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. The meeting consisted of three thematic parts. The first part was dedicated to safety measures and awareness of weapons and the dangers associated with them. Participants learned about the basic rules for handling explosive objects, potential risks and ways to minimize them.

The guests introduced the attendees to the specifics of communication with military personnel and veterans. In particular, they discussed ethical interaction, effective communication, mutual respect, and sensitivity to the experience of people who have gone through war.

A significant part of the meeting was devoted to information warfare — the principles of modern information security and methods of countering disinformation.

Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Volodymyr Kozak shared his own combat experience and spoke in detail about mines and explosive devices. During his speech, he demonstrated different types of mines, explained their dangers, and emphasized the importance of caution and strict adherence to safety rules.

The event was also attended by Andriy Yakubenko, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, chief specialist of the Department of Sports and Youth Policy of the Regional State Administration. He focused on the role of state and public institutions in supporting veterans and developing youth initiatives. It was important and symbolic that Andriy is a graduate of Kherson State University.

Viktoriia Pytsiuk (Torres), a military volunteer and journalist, head of the information and communications department of the Department for Support of War Veterans and Demobilized Persons of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, spoke about the challenges of information warfare and the importance of responsible information consumption. She shared practical examples of countering disinformation and emphasized the importance of media literacy in wartime.
