Meeting of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Social Work: March Outcomes and Development Plans

Today, on 2 March, the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Social Work held its March meeting, during which the faculty members discussed the key areas of work for the current semester and agreed on further steps in educational, research, and outreach activities. The discussion focused on issues related to the organisation of the educational process, preparation for accreditation procedures, updating of syllabi, implementation of modern teaching methods, as well as career guidance initiatives.A significant part of the meeting was devoted to the department’s research activities.

The agenda included the following items:

  1. Election of I. V. Shaposhnykova to the position of Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Social Work (S. K. Kostiuchkov) (secret ballot).

  2. Recommendation to grant the approval of the Academic Council of Kherson State University to the Methodological Guidelines for the Preparation and Writing of a Doctor of Philosophy Dissertation in Speciality 110 Social Work and Counselling, authored by I. V. Shaposhnykova.

  3. Recommendation to grant the approval of the Academic Council of Kherson State University to S. Kostiuchkov’s monograph The Socio‑Philosophical and Historical‑Political Dimensions of Global Terrorism.

  4. Development and accreditation of electronic educational courses (EECs) on the KSU‑online platform and analysis of the reasons for their absence (S. K. Kostiuchkov).

  5. Professional review of T. Cherkashyna’s electronic course Methodology and Organisation of Sociological Research for second‑year students of the Sociology programme, and recommendation of this course for technical evaluation for certification purposes.

  6. Analysis of the results of the university’s research and scientific‑technical activities for 2025 (No. 73‑D of 5 February 2026).

  7. Status of readiness of qualification papers of bachelor’s degree students in specialities 231 Social Work and 054 Sociology (academic supervisors).

  8. Updating personal academic staff profiles in the KSU‑online system, including information on professional development.

  9. Miscellaneous.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of several operational decisions and the identification of priorities for the near future. The department continues to work consistently to enhance the quality of education, strengthen its research potential, and expand opportunities for both students and academic staff.
