Anastasiia Volianiuk, a lecturer at the Faculty of Pedagogy of Kherson State University, participated in the international seminar “Migration and Acculturation: Risks and Resources for the Development of Children and Youth,” which took place on May 22–23, 2026, at the Institute of Educational Sciences of the University of Basel (Switzerland).

Dr. Beyhan Ertanir, a researcher specializing in migration, acculturation, and the development of children and young people in intercultural contexts, led the seminar. Anastasiia Volianiuk was invited to participate as an expert, drawing on her personal experience of crisis migration caused by the full-scale war in Ukraine.

During her presentation, Anastasiia shared her personal story of living under the temporary occupation of Kherson, her forced relocation to Switzerland, and her subsequent adaptation to new sociocultural and educational environments. She paid particular attention to the challenges faced by Ukrainian children and young people as they integrate into the educational systems of their host countries, as well as to issues of preserving national identity and supporting psychological well-being.

Seminar participants discussed the impact of crisis migration on the development of children and young people, the role of families and educational institutions in the adaptation process, and the importance of intercultural dialogue in fostering inclusive educational environments.

The participation of the representative of the Faculty of Pedagogy at Kherson State University in this international academic event contributed to the dissemination of Ukrainian experiences and to the strengthening of professional dialogue on contemporary issues related to migration, education, and psychological support for children facing major societal challenges.
