In today's world, video has become the primary language of communication. However, for a professional journalist, the ability to shoot is not just about pressing the ‘Record’ button at the right time. It is a strategy, working with light and the ability to tell a story that will captivate the viewer.

These are precisely the skills that journalism students at Kherson State University are currently honing by participating in the online course ‘Content in the Frame: How to Shoot Videos for Social Media.’

Today, a media specialist is a universal soldier. Students at Kherson State University understand that to be competitive in the job market, it is not enough to just write well. You need to be able to create high-quality visual content that looks professional even on a minimal budget.

The course, developed by professional photographer and videographer Anton Tkachenko, covers the entire video content production cycle. The training is divided into 10 concise video lectures, which contain no ‘fluff’ but only practical advice:

• Pre-production: how to develop a script and prepare for shooting.

• Technical aspects: working with frame composition, lighting, and recording clear sound.

• Post-production: the basics of editing that transform raw material into a finished product.

• Distribution: how to publish videos correctly so that they reach the maximum audience.

‘Quality content starts with substance. Technology only helps to convey it to the viewer,’ says course speaker Anton Tkachenko.

Participation in such initiatives allows students of Kherson State University not only to update their portfolios with new video works, but also to obtain official confirmation of their knowledge. After successfully completing the course, each participant receives a certificate (0.2 ECTS credits), which will be a valuable addition to their diploma and CV.

Such educational opportunities help future journalists in the Kherson region to be among the best specialists in their field, despite any challenges of the times.
