Opening of the 2nd All-Ukrainian methodical workshop of a lexicographer at KhSU
What did leading linguists surprise students with this year, and what is de-Russianization of Ukrainian anthroponyms?

On April 4, the opening of the II All-Ukrainian methodical workshop of a modern lexicographer took place on the ZOOM platform, which will last for three days. The speaker today was Ivan Mykolayovych Khomyak, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Ostroh Academy National University, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine. He said that anthroponymy is a science that studies proper names of people: personal names, patronymic forms, surnames, nicknames, pseudonyms. During the lecture, he raised the topical issue of the origin of Ukrainian name forms - many of them were Russified. The Russian authorities did everything possible to de-Ukrainize us - to create such conditions that Ukrainians would completely forget their culture, traditions, language and even our names. Did you know that Alyona is a Russianized name, while Olena is actually Ukrainian? And such forms as: Katyusha, Andryusha are tracings from Russian. At this lecture, students were able to think deeply about the origin of their name and surname, dive into the intricacies of the Ukrainian language and history. The event turned out to be extremely informative, relevant and meaningful.
In 2021, the All-Ukrainian methodological workshop was held for the first time on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of Professor Maria Ivanivna Pentylyuk, the first female professor of Kherson State University.
