On Friday, June 5, 2020, a meeting of the commission on academic integrity chaired by the first vice-rector Omelchuk SA was held in a combined mode (personal participation and remote mode).

The commission was presented with 18 qualification papers that had a high level of coincidence after technical testing for plagiarism in the Unicheck system (according to the Procedure for detection and prevention of academic plagiarism in research activities of KSU higher education students), and statements of these applicants in which they explained the high percentage of coincidences in the works.

Both applicants for higher education and their supervisors, as well as all those wishing to participate, were invited to the commission meeting to make an informed decision on these works. The conclusions of expert commissions from faculties, responses of scientific supervisors and reviewers, technical reports of Unicheck were submitted for consideration.

As a result of the commission's work, the following results were determined:

1. Four qualification works coincided due to participation in the competition of scientific works of students and the availability of these works in open access to Internet sources on the websites of higher education institutions where the competition of works took place. These works were admitted to certification.

2. Three qualifying works were admitted to the certification with comments.

3. Four qualifying works were not admitted to certification in 2020 due to plagiarism detected in the works. Two of the four works received a negative expert opinion, prepared by scientists from the faculties of the respective specialties.

4. Seven works were not admitted to certification in 2020 because they were not submitted for plagiarism or had a high level of coincidence in accordance with the Procedure for detection and prevention of academic plagiarism in research activities of KSU higher education students.

Based on the results of the work of the Academic Integrity Commission, it was recommended to remove for a year from the review of experts who gave a positive response to works in which academic plagiarism was detected and from the scientific supervisor and from the review of qualifying papers for three years.

There was also a high level of responsibility, honesty and adherence to the principles of fairness, competence and professionalism of experts, who objectively assessed the quality of qualification work with a high level of coincidence.

Taking into account the proposals of the commission members, a decision was made on further stages of improving the Procedure for detecting and preventing academic plagiarism in research activities of KSU higher education seekers and even greater involvement of student government representatives in the commission's procedures.
