The 65th Annual Symposium of the International Association of Vegetation Science (IAVS) was held in Coffs Harbour, east coast of Australia, from 4 to 8 September 2023.
This year's international symposium was held under the slogan "The future of vegetation in the 22nd century". In light of the undeniable global impacts of climate change observed in recent years, IAVS provided an important platform for botanists from around the world to assess recent developments and determine future projections for the state of the world's vegetation as we approach the 22nd century.
In total, the symposium was attended by 313 participants from 32 countries. Ukraine was represented by 2 participants: Anna Kuzemko (M.G. Kholodnyi Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and Polina Daineko (Kherson State University, Institute of Botany of the Slovak Academy of Sciences).
Polina Dyneko, Doctor of Science, Lecturer at the Department of Botany, presented the results of joint work with Slovak colleagues on the study of species-rich meadows and pastures of the Carpathians with an oral report "Land-use patterns in mountain meadows of Maramures and Bukovyna regions (Carpathian Mountains)".
