Chair of Linguistics

            The Department of Linguistics was established in 1997 on the basis of the division of the former Department of Ukrainian. In 2003-2004. In connection with the opening of the specialty "Journalism", the Department of Linguistics was reorganized into the Department of Ukrainian Linguistics and Fundamentals of Journalism. In February 2005, a separate Department of Journalism was established at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism. In this regard, the Department of Ukrainian Linguistics and Fundamentals of Journalism was renamed the Department of Ukrainian Linguistics.
            On September 1, 2011, the Department of Ukrainian Linguistics merged with the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. In this regard, the department was renamed  into the Department of Linguistics. Today, 7 teachers and 2 senior laboratory assistants work at the department. Among the lecturers are: 1 Doctor of Science (Professor M.I.Pentylyuk), 6 Candidates of Sciences (Assoc. Prof. Gaydaenko IV, Assoc. Prof. Okunevich TG, Assoc .prof  Lebedeva  N.M., Assoc. Prof . Melkonian VM),  Assoc.   Omelchuk Yu.O.
            The activity of the department is aimed at training highly qualified specialists, people spiritually rich, able to serve the ideas of state formation, to combine patriotism and high professionalism. All the work of the department is aimed at the execution of basic documents of national importance and thorough professional training of future philologists.
            The efforts of the members of the Department of Linguistics are aimed at providing students with philological and linguistic training, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to introduce new information technologies and pedagogical innovations into the educational process. The department pays great attention to the problematic clarification of the nodal issues of linguistics theory, the implementation of innersubject and intersubject links in the teaching of linguistic disciplines.
            One of the most important areas of educational and methodological work is the filling of the educational process with educational and methodical materials that ensure the efficiency of students and teachers, the development of programs and plans for educational activities. Teachers of the department developed methodical recommendations, manuals, textbooks, test tasks for all philology courses. Work and educational programs in all disciplines of the department are being improved.       
            The department actively continues the postgraduate education of university graduates: since 1992 there is a postgraduate course, and since 1998 - a doctoral degree (scientific supervisor - Professor Pentilyuk MI). The department also has a master's degree. In accordance with the curricula of the disciplines of the Department of Linguistics, part of the material is submitted for independent study by students. These are mostly simple topics, covered in textbooks and scientific literature, and related to students' reproductive activities. The department holds annual conferences of international, national and regional level, which will strengthen the relations with other institutions of higher education. Traditional conferences have been interregional seminars in linguistics and institutional conferences with students that raise the scientific level of future philologists.
