Viktor Berman (October 1, 1942 – October 25, 2010) was the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics, PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis, an Excellence in Education of Ukraine awardee, a labor veteran, graduate of Kherson State Pedagogical Institute (class of 1964)
Viktor's life was closely connected to the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Kherson State University, where he progressed from a student to the Dean. In 1965, he began his professional career as a lecturer in the Department of Elementary Mathematics at Kherson State Pedagogical Institute. In 1967, Viktor Berman became the head of the School for Young Mathematicians, and with his involvement, the first regional in-person and correspondence mathematical television Olympiad was held in the republic. He also contributed to the establishment of the Mathematics Club of the Witty and Resourceful..
For many years, Viktor led the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics, initially as the Deputy Dean, and from 1989, for 20 years, he served as the Dean of the Faculty. Viktor was actively involved in research and scientific methodical work, having written over 100 scientific papers. In collaboration with others, he co-authored a textbook for elective mathematics classes for 7th-grade students and a guide for teachers titled "Mathematics in Extracurricular Activities." He was an extraordinary and highly talented individual, with a sharp sense of humor, and wrote wonderful poems and scripts. Viktor was one of the founders and, for over 50 years, the constant leader of the men's artistic ensemble "Beryzka." He is also the author of the book "A Game with a Length of Life...", which became a kind of chronicle of the university.
