A memorial plaque to Svyatoslav Marcinkovskyi was installed based on the decision of the Academic Council of Kherson State University (protocol No. 7 dated 21.12.2020)

Sviatoslav Martsynkovskyi (November 17, 1946 – December 1, 2020) – Professor of the Department of Musical Arts, Artistic Director, and Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Kherson State University, Excellence in Education of Ukraine, Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Honorary Professor of KSU, Honorary Professor of the Music Academy Hamburg.
Sviatoslav was born in the village of Khrinnyky, Mlynivskyi district, Rivne region. In 1970, he graduated with honors from the Music and Pedagogical Faculty of Rivne State Pedagogical Institute. From 1973 to 1999, he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, and associate professor at the Department of Folk Instruments of Rivne State Institute of Culture. He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Musical Creativity and Head of the Department of Folk Instruments. He was a laureate of the Mykola Lysenko Award (1998) and the Meletius Smotrytskyi Award (1999).
Starting in September 2000, Sviatoslav worked at Kherson State University as Head of the Department of Musical Arts (2001–2020) and Professor.
The creative activity of Sviatoslav was associated with the organization and concert performances of the Symphony Orchestra of Kherson State University, where he was the artistic director and chief conductor. Under his leadership, the orchestra repeatedly performed on the finest stages of the Kherson region and Ukraine.
The main directions of his scientific and creative work were related to the study and integration of Ukrainian folk musical instruments into the educational process. He led a research school on Ukrainian folk instrumental studies and orchestration for folk and symphony orchestras.
Sviatoslav was the founder of the organization and implementation of the All-Ukrainian Festival (with international participation) of conducting art. He was the author of monographs, scientific, and methodological articles.
Throughout his career, he trained a significant number of specialists in musical arts.The creative legacy of Sviatoslav has become part of the nation's cultural heritage.
