The Faculty of Medicine has always been famous for its active student life and important contribution to the student community. Our faculty is not just a place where we study textbooks at night, memorize anatomy, and take exams. It is a community that becomes a second home, a real family. These are people who understand you with every word, who will support you in difficult moments and share the joy of victories with you.

Of course, today we are separated from our homes and our native Kherson. But this did not prevent us from being active! We regularly meet offline in Ivano-Frankivsk, organize away sessions, trips and friendly walks around the city. We conduct:
Festive events at the KSU office that bring students and faculty together.
✅ Joint projects with Carpathian University, which expand opportunities for cooperation, help make new acquaintances and useful connections.
✅ Excursions and events from IFNMU are journeys beyond the classrooms, where knowledge comes to life and professional inspiration is born.
✅ Lectures by guest speakers that help us grow personally and professionally.
✅ Scientific conferences, where we go to share knowledge and gain new experiences.
We hold many educational events at our KSU office in Ivano-Frankivsk, strengthening existing knowledge and collectively acquiring new ones.

We have incredible opportunities for professional development thanks to cooperation with medical institutions, rehabilitation centers, pharmacies not only in Kherson and Ivano-Frankivsk, but also throughout Ukraine. This allows us not only to study theory, but also to actively consolidate it in practice.

But the medical faculty is not only about studies, notes and long hospital corridors. It is also about friendship, moments of joy, warm evenings in company over a cup of tea, trips that leave unforgettable memories, surprises that make you smile, and support that doesn't let you give up. Our dean's office and teachers (honestly and without exaggeration!) are an incredible support that we are proud of. These are the people who care about everyone as if they were their own child, will fight for you until the last, and you can turn to them at any time, share what worries you and get help.

Our medical faculty is more than just a place to study. It is a place where everyone finds friends, support, and opportunities for self-realization.

Let's look back to the very beginning of the faculty:

Student life at the Faculty of Medicine is full of many interesting events. During their studies at the university, students gain extensive experience in participating in the activities of student government bodies, student problem groups and scientific circles, creative teams, sports sections, and volunteer organizations.

Students of the Faculty of Medicine are active participants in the creative competitions "Debut" (for freshmen) and "Young Wave", sports and intellectual competitions held at Kherson State University.

The Faculty of Medicine already has a number of its own traditional events. These include the initiation of freshmen, which usually takes place at the KhSU water station, the celebration of professional holidays of specialties: Chemist's Day, Speech Therapist's Day, Pharmacist's Day, Medical Worker's Day, and the organization of festive charity fairs.

Happy Student's Day, our indomitable doctors of KSU!

Today feels like a special occasion to smile, even to those who woke up a minute before the break. Our students know how to stay on their coffee at three in the morning, pretend that the notes explain everything, and rejoice so sincerely, as if it were a miracle, when the teacher cancels classes. We live in a rhythm where laughter sometimes saves more than sleep and where every day resembles a small victory over chaos.
Today is our day and I want to wish everyone easy mornings, good people around, more fun and less stress.
May student life be bright and warm despite any tasks and modules.
Happy Student's Day, our indomitable doctors of KSU!

Vital knowledge: seizures and first aid!

Today we deepened our knowledge on an extremely important topic! We attended a meaningful lecture by Vereshchakina Viktoriya Viktorivna, associate professor of the Department of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, Kherson State University, on the topic: “Seizures. Types of seizures, diseases and pathological conditions that can cause seizures in patients. First aid”.
This lesson became key to understanding the neurophysiological foundations of emergency conditions.
    What did we learn?
    • Bioelectrical activity of the brain: We got acquainted with how the brain functions normally, and what disorders lead to convulsive states.
    • Diagnostics: We considered research methods, in particular Electroencephalography (EEG), which allows us to detect pathological activity of neurons.
    • Types and causes of seizures: the teacher explained in detail the physiological and pathological nature of seizures, and also considered the conditions that cause them (epilepsy, hypoxia, intoxication, brain damage).
Emergency care is a life-saving skill
Special and most important attention was paid to first aid during a seizure.
After the theory, we practiced the practical skills of transferring the patient to a stable lateral position after an attack. This is a key element in preventing aspiration and restoring breathing.
Thank you to Viktoriya Viktorovna for such a meaningful and necessary lecture for clinical practice! This is knowledge that everyone should have!

    High-Intensity Gait Training

On November 4, students of the medical faculty attended an extremely important lecture given by Maksym Fedynyak at the CENTER OF PHYSICAL AND REHABILITATION MEDICINE of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital.
    Topic: High-Intensity Gait Training.
    Our students share their impressions:
" ... it was an extremely valuable experience — to hear from a practicing specialist with extensive clinical experience and see a completely different approach to gait rehabilitation."
The lecture was very rich and covered key aspects of the methodology:
    * Contraindications (absolute and relative).
    * A new formula for determining the upper limit of the heart rate during exercise specifically for HIGT.
    * Scales and testing tools.
    * Principles of safety during high-intensity training.
    * Features of a doctor's consultation on cardiorespiratory exercise and the American approach.

"Bridges, not walls: how to build trust in interactions with others"

Yesterday, the Center for Psychological Resilience and Well-being of KhSU held a training session “Bridges, not walls: how to build trust in interaction with others” for students of the Medical Faculty of KhSU.
It was a meeting about one of the most valuable things — about trust.
We talked about what helps build it and what destroys it. About how to start with the main thing — with trust in yourself. Because it is this that creates inner integrity and becomes the basis for openness with others.
Together, we looked for words for ourselves and our needs, learned to communicate honestly and gently, and also practiced being in contact. Not just talking, but really hearing and seeing each other.
The atmosphere turned out to be very sincere — with lively conversations, open views, and the feeling that even a short meeting can become a bridge between people.
Thank you to the students of the Medical Faculty for your trust and involvement.
May every conversation in your life also be a bridge — not a wall.

An impressive day at Yaremche City Hospital!

Today, medical students made a very informative trip to Yaremche City Hospital! From the very morning, having divided into three groups due to the large number of students, we began our immersion in the world of practical medicine.
    Our experience:
    • Purulent dressing: We observed the procedure for washing the wound of a patient with panaritium. The doctor delicately performed washing and disinfection, and the nurse applied a clean bandage. The patient felt significant relief and was able to go home! This was an important demonstration of providing immediate care.
    • Surgical department: Together with the surgeon, we got acquainted in detail with the work of the department. We saw how sterilization is organized, examined modern respiratory devices and, what is especially interesting, came across a real rarity - an old mercury floor thermometer! You can only find such a thing in textbooks! It was a truly fascinating combination of history and modernity.
    • Traumatology Department: Here we saw patients after complex operations: steel structures (external and internal), fractures of limbs with displacements... It was very inspiring to see that all of them are in the reliable hands of professionals who work wonders!
This day gave us not only new knowledge, but also a huge boost of motivation. Thank you to the staff of the Yaremche City Hospital for their hospitality, openness and the opportunity to see medicine from the inside!
P.S. At the end, a pleasant reward awaited us - a majestic waterfall! Under its noise we fixed all our impressions, full of gratitude for such a rich and useful day.
