Updated: 1/25/2026
Preparatory stage for admission to the Faculty of Medicine in 2026 in the specialty I2 Medicine:
In 2026, the rules for admission to higher education institutions (HEIs) will be based on the updated Admission Procedure, the draft of which was presented by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) for public discussion in late December 2025.
Here are the main guidelines for when to expect official documents and what changes have already been announced:
1. Deadlines for publication of rules
- National Admission Procedure: Official approval and registration with the Ministry of Justice usually takes place in January-February.
- Admission rules for specific universities: Each university is required to develop its own rules based on a state document. They usually appear on the websites of the institutions by the end of March.
2. Key innovations of 2026:
According to the latest decisions of the Verkhovna Rada and the Ministry of Education and Science:
- Exam format: admission will again be based on the results of the NMT (National Multi-Subject Test). "3+1" model: three mandatory subjects (Ukrainian language, mathematics, history of Ukraine) and one optional subject.
- State Administrative Service: 2026 graduates are again exempted from taking the state final certification.
- Number of applications: in 2026, applicants will be able to submit a total of up to 12 applications (previously there were 15). Of these, no more than 5 applications for the budget form.
- Motivational letters: their cancellation as a mandatory element for assessing applicants has been announced.
- Video recording of exams: a new requirement for universities is to conduct internal entrance tests under video recording (at least two cameras).
3. Indicative schedule of the introductory campaign
Based on the experience of previous years, the following dates can be expected:
- Registration for NMT: March-April.
- Main session of NMT: May-June.
- Registration of electronic offices: from July 1.
- Submission of applications: second half of July.
- Enrollment on the budget: early August.
- Tip: Regularly check the “Entry 2026” section on the Osvita.ua portal and the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science, as the final dates may be adjusted depending on the security situation.
