On the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of the University (Protocol No. 3 of 26.09.2016) “On reorganization of the Chair of Musical Arts and Choreography”, on September 26, 2016, the Chair of Choreographic Arts was headed by the Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Associate Professor Alla Rechlytska.



Teachers of Chair provide qualified training of specialists in choreographic field. Under their leadership, the following teams work in the department: the folk dance ensemble "Suzirya" (artistic director - the head of the department of choreographic art, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, associate professor Alla Rehlitska), folk dance ensemble "Ladovitsa" (artistic director Valentin Vasyak), folk dance ensemble "Chubariki" (artistic director - Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Professor of the Department of Choreographic Art Vasyl Chuba).

During the creative activity, the teams participate in many regional and city art events. They were one of the leading choreographic groups in the program of the concert of masters of arts and art collectives of Kherson region in Kiev, participated in festive concerts at the National Palace of Culture "Ukraine" in Kiev, dedicated to the 7th anniversary of independence of Ukraine and participated in the performance of Ukraine Independence Square "Symphony of the Independent State" at a governmental event dedicated to the Independence Day celebration, in the concert of the Wonderful Land of Dreams University held in Kyiv, in the concert at the Crystal Stadium, in concert and dedicated the day of open doors in the final evening school pupils, participated in the inauguration of "Tavria Melpomene", students of the department took part in Ukraine-US project "Young America - Young Ukraine" successfully hosted concerts of choreography students in Nice (France) during the Slavic culture Days.

The scientific and methodological activity of the members of the department is aimed at the preparation of textbooks, manuals, methodical recommendations on Ukrainian folk dance, classical dance, methods of teaching choreographic disciplines, methodical recommendations for the selection of musical accompaniment for choreography classes, etc.

 In the system of scientific work students are involved in collaboration in creative laboratories of choreographic skills at the university and general and specialized educational institutions. The festival of choreographic mastery of the collectives of the South of Ukraine "Inspiration" and the festival of folk choreography (competition of small forms) "We are from Ukraine", which are held annually on the basis of KSU by the efforts of teachers of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, have become traditional.

    🎓 Professional Development and Academic Mobility!

    🎓 Academic Mobility and Cooperation in the Field of Arts Education

    During October 2025, Natalia Tereshenko, Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Arts at Kherson State University, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor,
    was involved in the organization and teaching of lectures and practical classes within the framework of the Internal Academic Mobility Program “Choreographer’s Mastery” (Field of Knowledge 02 “Culture and Arts,” Specialty 024 “Choreography”).

    The program was implemented at the Faculty of Culture and Arts of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv from October 1 to October 31, 2025 (120 hours, 4 ECTS credits).

    🔹 The participation of a representative of Kherson State University contributes to the development of inter-university cooperation, exchange of experience, and enhancement of the educational process in the field of choreographic art.

    Kherson State University actively supports the participation of its faculty members in academic mobility programs, promoting the integration of Ukrainian art education into the modern European educational space.

    📚✨ On November 6, 2025, the XXI All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference for Young Scholars, Master’s Students and Students “Choreographic Culture – Artistic Dimensions” took place at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

    The choreographers of the Department of Culture and Arts of Kherson State University worthily represented KSU at this prestigious academic event, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, creative approach, and scientific activity.

    Associate Professor of the Department of Culture and Arts of Kherson State University, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine Valentyn Vasyak is the choreographer of the dance composition “Oleshky Marching Dance.” The performance of this work was entrusted to the wonderful dance ensemble “Puls” of the Kyiv Children's Creativity Center Shevchenkivets. The dance composition was presented at the gala concert of the multi-genre festival “Artistic Path,” dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of the liberation of Kherson. We are proud of the creative achievements of our colleagues and the talent of the performers! 💙💛

    🌍 The First International Round Table “Tanzplan Ukraine” 💃🕊️

    On October 15, 2025, the First International Round Table “Tanzplan Ukraine” took place online (via Zoom / UA–EN with consecutive interpretation). The event was organized by the Charitable Foundation “Impulse Transformation Platform” with the support of Bureau Ritter (Germany). 🎯 The goal of the event was to unite representatives of key higher education institutions in the field of choreography in Ukraine to jointly discuss the development of dance art, identify current challenges, available resources, and opportunities for collaboration. Participants received expert support from the initiators and driving force of Tanzplan Deutschland – Bureau Ritter, who shared their experience in building a sustainable system of dance support in Germany. Special attention was given to the specifics of the Ukrainian dance sector, its potential, and its sensitive aspects. During the meeting, participants: 🔹 learned about international experiences with similar initiatives; 🔹 discussed the main challenges facing the Ukrainian dance community; 🔹 identified key directions and next steps for developing dance as an art form in Ukraine and for promoting dance culture nationally and internationally. The plenary session was moderated by: 🗣️ Dr. Viktor Ruban (Ukraine), 🗣️ Madeline Ritter and Isa Kohler (Germany). Kherson State University was represented at the event by Head of the Department of Culture and Arts, Associate Professor Nataliia Tereshenko.
