The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine was opened in September 1993 and is one of more than 130 Delegations of the European Union in the world. The Delegation has the status of a diplomatic mission and officially represents the European Commission in Ukraine.

The Head of the Delegation is Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira.

 

The main tasks of the EU Delegation to Ukraine are as follows:

 

   - to promote political and economic ties between Ukraine and the European Union by maintaining an effective dialogue with government institutions and raising public awareness of the European Union, its institutions and programs;;
   - monitor the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Partnership and Cooperation Agreement;
   - inform the public about the development of the European Union, explain and defend certain aspects of EU policy;
   - participate in the implementation of the EU's external assistance programs.

           

 

The Representative Office is composed of:

  • Department of Cooperation Programs;
  • Contracts and Finance Department;
  • Аdministrative department;
  • Trade and economic department;
  • Policy, Press and Information Department.

 

Services and activities of the Policy, Press and Information Department:   

  •  support of the Mission's website;
  •  organizing interviews with EU officials;
  •  disseminating press releases and news about the EU, EU-Ukraine relations, and programs supported by the EU in Ukraine;
  •  organizing press conferences and press briefings at the Representative Office and in the regions;
  •  conducting seminars for journalists on EU issues and organizing press visits to EU institutions in Brussels;
  •  production and distribution of printed information materials about the EU, including a guide to EU issues for journalists;
  •  distribution of electronic newsletters: “EU News for Journalists” - a weekly publication with the latest EU news in Ukrainian and Russian, and ‘News of Cooperation with the EU’ - a bi-weekly publication on EU programs in Ukraine in English and Ukrainian;
  •  distribution of the monthly printed publication “Eurobulletin”, which covers various aspects of EU-Ukraine relations, activities of EU programs in Ukraine, and current issues about the EU;
  •  organizing and holding the Days of Europe and the European Film Festival in Ukraine;
  •  support of the Euroclubs network and events in Ukraine;
  •  coordinating the activities of EU Information Centers operating in Ukrainian universities;
  •  Conducting conferences and press visits to raise awareness of EU programs and projects in Ukraine.
