The programme combines training in tourism, recreation and destination management with a focus on the recovery of the Kherson region, development of domestic tourism, event tourism and sustainable leisure practices. Full trajectory: bachelor → master.

The programme is focused on the de-occupied region and the tourism potential of Kherson, as well as on domestic tourism, regional development and sustainable recreation.
Tourism, recreation and regional recovery

The educational programme combines tourism studies, recreation, tourism geography and travel management with practical cases from the Kherson region, domestic tourism in Ukraine and international trends.

Students learn how to develop tourism products, routes, events and recreation programmes, how the tourism business works and how tourism can contribute to community recovery.

The learning process includes:

  • working with maps, routes and tourism destinations;
  • digital tools for booking, promotion and analysis of tourist flows;
  • practical tasks on designing tours, excursions and recreation programmes;
  • participation in initiatives related to the recovery of the Kherson region.

First cycle

Bachelor in Tourism and Recreation

The starting level for those who want to work in tourism businesses, tour operators and travel agencies, hospitality, recreation complexes and regional development projects.

Duration of study: 3 years 10 months (bachelor)
Modes of study: full-time / part-time (according to KSU Admission Rules).

You will learn to:
  • understand the structure of the tourism market and types of tourism;
  • design tourism routes, excursions and recreation programmes;
  • organise trips, tours and leisure for different target audiences;
  • communicate with partners, clients and tourism operators;
  • use basic digital tools in tourism (online services, booking, promotion).
Practice at bachelor level:
  • educational and industrial placements in tourism companies, hospitality venues and local authorities;
  • participation in organising excursions, events and thematic tours;
  • first individual tourism and recreation mini-projects.
Second cycle

Master in Tourism and Recreation

Continuation of training for those who want to move towards managing tourism destinations, recreation infrastructure and tourism development projects at the level of communities, regions and businesses.

Duration of study: 1 year 4 months (master)
Admission: based on a bachelor’s degree (tourism, recreation or related fields) according to the Admission Rules.

Focus of the master’s programme:
  • management of tourism destinations and recreation resources;
  • sustainable tourism, “green” tourism, eco- and gastro-routes;
  • tourism project design, event tourism, MICE sector;
  • territorial marketing and branding, analytics of tourism flows;
  • master’s research based on real cases of communities and businesses.
Opportunities for master students:
  • participation in projects for the recovery and promotion of the Kherson region;
  • cooperation with local authorities, tourism clusters and businesses;
  • preparation for further research activity or management positions in tourism.
