History of the Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs
Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Educational Management named after Prof. Ye. Petukhov
The postgraduate and doctoral programs were established at the department in September 1992 and have been operating ever since, allowing for the development of a strong scientific school dedicated to researching pressing issues in pedagogy, the history of pedagogy, the theory and methodology of professional education, the theory and practice of upbringing, social education, and, more broadly, the socialization of children at various historical stages of educational development, pedagogical science, pedagogical thought, and schooling in Ukraine.
During its operation, under the guidance of leading scholars from Ukraine and the university, the department has recommended 12 dissertations for defense in pursuit of the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences degree in specialties 13.00.01 and 13.00.04. As a result, all dissertations were successfully defended. Additionally, upon the department’s recommendation, 84 applicants successfully defended their dissertations to obtain the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, including 50 faculty members of Kherson State University.
At different times, postgraduate students were supervised by prominent scholars, including academicians of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences (NAPN) of Ukraine: Olga Sukhomlynskaya, Ivan Bekh, and Viktor Yevdokymov; Doctors of Science, Professors of the Institute of Pedagogy of NAPN Ukraine: Hryhoriy Pustovit, Lyudmyla Kalinina, and Lyudmyla Karamushka; as well as university faculty members: Borys Andriievskyi, Yelyzaveta Barbina, Volodymyr Butenko, Yuliia Kishchenko, Mykola Levchenko, Zhanna Nusinova, Nina Slyusarenko, Oleksandr Panchenko, Liubov Petukhova, Valentyna Fedyaieva, Valentyna Sharko, Andrii Shipko, and Tetiana Yatsula.
All degree-seeking researchers actively participate in and lead the university’s scientific schools. The department has initiated the Round Table discussion “The Scientific School of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Educational Management named after Prof. Ye. Petukhov in the Socio-Cultural and Historical Space of Kherson State University”, under the leadership of Professor Valentyna Fedyaieva.
