On June 2–3, 2026, the 4th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Linguistic Horizons of the 21st Century” was held. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism and Arts, and the Department of English Philology and World Literature named after Professor Oleh Mishukov.
Among the international scholars who delivered presentations were professors from the University of Leeds (United Kingdom), the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), the Constance University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Arden University (Global University Systems) (United Kingdom), the American School of Bulgaria (Varna, Bulgaria), and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (Poland).
The academic community showed great interest in the presentations delivered by representatives of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Prof. Leonid Chernovatyi, Prof. Oleksandr Rebrii), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Assoc. Prof. B. Kolodii, Yu. Loboda), Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Prof. O. Bondareva), Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University (Prof. M. Kniazian), and other Ukrainian higher education institutions.
A total of 165 research papers presenting the latest findings in linguistics, translation studies, intercultural communication, literary studies, and media education were submitted to the conference.
The conference participants highly appreciated the excellent organization of the event, the distinguished reputation of the invited speakers, and the relevance and practical value of their presentations.

For the 17th consecutive year, the Department of English Philology and World Literature named after Professor Oleh Mishukov has been a co-organizer of the student scientific and practical conference “Foreign Languages in the Modern Communicative Space.” This year, 34 students took part in the conference, where they presented the achievements of their research work.

The Success of Our Students at the 10th International Student Translation Contest
During February, students of the department took part in the 10th International Student Translation Contest “New Worlds: Translation as a Tool of Knowledge” (2026), organized by the Department of Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies of Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University.
According to the results of the contest:
2nd place in the category “Translation of a Ukrainian song into English” was awarded to Alina Kalashnikova (Group 302).

On December 10, the traditional annual English Language Olympiad was held for first-year full-time and part-time Master’s students.
Participants demonstrated a high level of proficiency by completing test tasks and writing an essay.
The jury consisted of:
O.A. Zubrova — Head of the Jury, Associate Professor,
K.S. Frantsuzova — Jury Member, Associate Professor.
According to the results of the Olympiad, the prize places were awarded as follows:
1st place — Mykola Huk (79 points)
2nd place — Lesia Bolets and Anastasiia Kyrychenko (77 points each)
3rd place — Nataliia Khlybova (70 points)
4th place — Alla Shvorob (61 points)
