The educational programme in 081 Law trains specialists who understand law as a tool for protecting human rights, regulating social relations and supporting the recovery of de-occupied territories. Full study pathway: Bachelor → Master → Postgraduate (PhD).

The programme is focused on the rule of law, human rights and practical training for work in the justice system, public authorities and business.
About the programme

The educational and professional programme “Law” is aimed at developing fundamental and advanced legal knowledge, skills to apply norms of substantive and procedural law, analyse case-law and protect human rights.

The study of law is based on legal doctrines, values, principles and human rights standards, and also takes into account the challenges of recovering de-occupied territories.

Special attention is paid to practical skills:

  • work with legal databases and digital justice services;
  • drafting procedural documents and legal opinions;
  • participation in the activities of the Legal Clinic of KSU (legal awareness and legal aid).
Study pathway
At each level, the practical component, analytics and responsibility in legal decision-making are strengthened.
First level

Bachelor of Law

The Bachelor’s programme provides a fundamental legal education and understanding of the legal system: from constitutional foundations to individual branches (civil, criminal, administrative, labour, financial, international law).

Duration of study: 3 years 10 months (Bachelor)
Forms of study: full-time / part-time (according to the KSU Admission Rules).

You will learn how to:
  • apply norms of substantive and procedural law;
  • draft key procedural documents and contracts;
  • analyse court decisions and legal positions;
  • navigate mechanisms for the protection of human rights;
  • work with legal sources and electronic registers.
Practical component:
  • introductory and industrial internships;
  • participation in the work of the KSU Legal Clinic (legal awareness, consultations under supervision);
  • moot courts, trainings and case-study formats.
Second level

Master of Law

The Master’s programme is focused on advanced legal analysis and complex cases and on building the ability to work at the intersection of law, public policy and business processes.

Duration of study: 1 year 4 months (Master)
Admission: based on a Bachelor’s degree (Law or related fields) according to the Admission Rules.

Focus of the Master’s training:
  • advanced sector-specific law and current case-law;
  • legal aspects of recovery, security and public governance;
  • legal analytics for public authorities, business and communities;
  • drafting legislative proposals, legal opinions and analytical briefs;
  • preparation of the Master’s thesis based on real legal problems.
Opportunities for Master’s students:
  • participation in scientific and practical forums, conferences and projects;
  • cooperation with public authorities, courts and business structures;
  • preparation for further study in the postgraduate (PhD) programme.
Third level

Postgraduate (Doctor of Philosophy, PhD) in Law

The postgraduate (PhD) level is for those who aim to become a researcher, lecturer or legal analyst and to influence the development of legal policy, reforms and practices of state recovery.

PhD students work on their own research, publish academic articles and participate in national and international projects, including those related to the recovery of the Kherson region and community development.

Possible research areas:
  • rule of law and human rights protection;
  • public law and public administration;
  • legal support for the recovery of de-occupied territories;
  • criminal law, criminal procedure, security and public order;
  • digitalisation of law, e-justice, evidence in a digital environment.
