Research group led by Associate Professor of Human Biology and Immunology Olena Lanovenko, which includes 2nd year biology students Ostapenko Eliz, Sidorenko Kateryna and undergraduate Fomina Julia conduct genetic and ecological research on the topic: «Evaluation of the cytogenetic effect of environmental factors in the buccal epithelium cells of experimental animals and humans» (State registration number: 0119U103850)
The aim of the study identification of cytogenetic reactions to environmental pollution and the establishment of ways of their adaptation at the cellular and subcellular levels, as well as identifying the prospects for using the methods of studying the microscopic features of the buccal epithelium to assess the environmental genotoxicity for humans and animals.
The work is of great practical importance, because the use of methods to determine the morphological and cytogenetic features of the buccal epithelium of humans and animals will judge the general condition of the body and the reactivity of the mucosal epithelium as an indicator of local and general disorders of homeostasis under environmental influences.
We wish the talented researchers and their supervisors great success!
