Wednesday, February 11, 2026

On February 11, the second mid-term project coordination meeting of the DigiUni project, The Digital University: Open Ukrainian Initiative, commenced in Germany.

Kherson State University is represented by Alla Tsapiv, Assistant to the Rector for Internationalization, who is presenting the implementation of the Dissemination Work Package — an area coordinated by KSU.

Partners from Ukraine and EU countries gathered at the halfway point of the project implementation to:

  • review progress achieved,
  • coordinate work packages,
  • define further strategic steps,
  • analyze the development dynamics of the DigiPlatform digital environment.

Participants were welcomed by Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, who emphasized the strategic importance of the digital ecosystem for Ukrainian higher education, as a tool for ensuring continuity of learning during wartime and as a foundation for post-war modernization.

The Project Coordinator, Vice-Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kseniia Smyrnova, presented an analytical overview of the current stage of DigiUni implementation and outlined its strategic development priorities.

Prof. Dr. Kathrin Möslein, Vice President of FAU, highlighted the importance of international academic cooperation as the basis for integration into the European Higher Education Area.

Hanifi Senlik shared practical experience in applying the lump-sum funding model, using the EPICUR project as an example.

Two more intensive working days lie ahead.

“For us, the DigiUni is more than just a project.

It is:

  • a digital toolkit for resilience,
  • methodological modernization,
  • value-based integration into the European Union’s educational space,
  • a tangible step toward accessible, inclusive, and continuous education.

Each university, each participant, and each presentation contributes to the shared future of Ukrainian higher education. We are working systematically. We are at the midpoint. We are moving toward the finish line with a clear strategy,” emphasized KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
