    We are pleased to announce that the book we will be reading in April and will discuss it at the next KSU Book Club meeting, intertwining and expanding the topics of the following KSU Speaking Club.

    So, we invite you to read a fascinating story about the friendship of Harvard students, their ambitions, betrayal and innovation - The Accidental Billionaires. The Founding of Facebook" by Ben Mezrich. Read the story in English this month, watch its film adaptation The Social Network, and join us for a discussion and exchange of impressions in early May!

    📣 Last week, the KSU English Speaking Clubs and KSU Book Club met to discuss both fun and serious things.
    In particular:
    ✅ with KSU students and representatives of the University of Kent we talked about humour and jokes;

    ✅ with the staff of our university, we told funny pranks that happened to them;
    ✅ and with the participants of the book club we shared our impressions of the beautiful, but heartbreaking and thought-provoking book by Colleen Hoover - ‘It Ends with Us’.

    It was interesting and useful!

    This week, KSU English Book Club met to discuss the detective story The Incredible Theft by Agatha Christie.

    ✔️ The participants shared their impressions of the book, discussed the plot and its red herrings, as well as the themes covered in the novel.
    ✔️ We talked about the writing style and legacy of the famous writer.
    ✔️ And, of course, we described and compared the approach of the detective Poirot.

    On 25 February, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi visited the Ivano-Frankivsk office of Kherson State University as part of his visit to the Carpathian region. The representative of the Ministry of Education and Science met with KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovsky and the university staff, inspected the infrastructure of KSU's Ivano-Frankivsk office, and joined the opening of new classrooms.

    We are happy to announce that the book that we are going to read during February and discuss at the next KSU Book Club meeting is a short detective story  "The Incredible Theft" by Agatha Christie.

    You’re probably familiar with Agatha Christie, even if you’ve never read any of her work. She’s been deemed “The Queen of Mystery” in honour of her prolific career as a mystery writer, which spanned fifty-five long years. In fact, Christie is the most widely published author of all time, after Shakespeare and the bible.

    So we propose you to try one of her most famous works in English, which you can find here.

    The first meeting of KSU English Book Club this year

    ✔️ Participants shared their impressions of reading a book in English, discussed the plot, main characters and themes covered in the work.

    ✔️ They also discussed the moral lessons that can be drawn from the story's events for the modern world.

    It was a pleasure to meet true fans of classic English literature. We thank everyone who joined us!

    We are pleased to inform you that the KSU Book Club in the format of book discussions and film adaptations, is back! It will take place once a month as a part of the Educational and Cultural Hub ‘Interesting Ukraine’ and FLEO activities.

    As part of the weeks of in-person training for the staff of the Ivano-Frankivsk office, Daria Domanchuk, Head of the KSU Social and Psychological Service, conducted a training on Psycho-Emotional Support during War: Healing Techniques. The event focused on preserving mental health and providing psychosocial support to IDPs from the Kherson region, developing the resilience of the population and promoting the development of social mechanisms of interaction. According to Daria Domanchuk, this is an important step for mutual support of the university staff.

    The educational and cultural HUB hosted a masterclass in tactical medicine by Mykyta Boiko.
    Mykyta Boiko demonstrated how to save lives even in the most difficult circumstances. His knowledge is based on real-life cases, and his methods comply with international standards of TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care).

    VR Technologies in Education Workshop

    The students of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics of Kherson State University attended a workshop ‘VR Technologies in Education’.     On 7 October, Kherson State University hosted a solemn meeting on the Day of Education Workers of Ukraine. Due to the equipment obtained within the HUB operation, the event was held simultaneously at the Ivano-Frankivsk and Kherson offices in a hybrid mode.

    Kherson in the heart: this year KSU graduated more than 600 students

    On 16 August, Kherson State University hosted a landmark event - the diploma awarding ceremony for bachelor's and master's graduates of the 222 Medicine speciality. More than 500 participants joined the event due to the equipment obtained within the Educational and Cultural HUB operation. The celebrations were held in a hybrid mode.

    On 14 June, the Rector and Vice-Rectors of Kherson State University joined the Rector's Council session and a meeting of the scientific community of Ivano-Frankivsk region with Oleh Sharov, the General Director of the Directorate of Professional Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The event was held at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

    International Programming Proggy-Buggy Towel Contest at HUB

    On 25 May, the spring round of the annual International Programming Proggy-Buggy Towel Contest 2024 by DataArt took place. This year, 1526 participants from 45 countries joined the competition.
