Artem Shevchenko, a 3rd-year student majoring in 122 Computer Science, won first place in a qualifying rating chess tournament (classic game), demonstrating a high level of strategic thinking and endurance.

A meeting took place at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk (Poland) between the Rector of Kherson State University, Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, and Rector Zbigniew Osadowski with KSU students currently enrolled in the double degree program.

Among the participants was Vladyslav Petukhov, a student of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSPM), who is currently studying in Poland as part of this international academic initiative.

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, a graduation ceremony was held for the graduates of the "Information Systems and Technologies" Master's program.

One of the graduates, Danylo Kirilkov from Kherson, shared the story of his journey toward earning his Master’s degree.

On February 13, a landmark meeting took place between students and faculty of the KSU Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics, Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi, and representatives of the global IT company DataArt.

The highlight of the event was the announcement that the renewed DataArt location — Kherson/Ivano-Frankivsk — will continue its operations right next to Kherson State University (KSU) in Ivano-Frankivsk.

On February 12, Kherson State University celebrated a significant milestone — the solemn graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025 Masters! 🎉

The staff of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the "Born to Win" (Narodzheni peremahaty) Media Club of the City Student Parliament (under the Department of Education of the Kherson City Council) for conducting significant educational and outreach events for the youth of the Kherson region.

At the 15th International Conference on Dependable Systems, Services and Technologies (DESSERT’2025), held on December 19, 2025, in Athens, Greece, a research study by Professor Vitaliy Kobets in collaboration with PhD student Dmytro Klonov was presented in an online format.

Vitaliy Kobets, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, participated in the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference for Scientists and Students: "Digital Economy as a Factor of Innovation and Sustainable Development of Society." The event, held on December 9–10, 2025, at the Ivan Puluj Ternopil National Technical University, brought together researchers, educators, practitioners, and young scientists to present cutting-edge developments in digitalization, innovation, and sustainable development.

On December 18, the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics hosted the final defenses of qualification papers. Second-year students of the Master’s level demonstrated the results of their research, successfully marking the completion of their studies.

Захід був присвячений історичному екскурсу становлення та розвитку факультету. На ньому були присутні деканеса факультету, завідувачі та викладачі кафедр, які поділилися цікавою інформацією про заснування факультету та про вчених, які десятиліттями будували фундамент для розвитку науки у регіоні.

We congratulate Artem Shevchenko, a student of our faculty (3rd year, Specialty 122 Computer Science), on being selected as one of the active young leaders of the Kherson City Territorial Community to receive a one-time merit scholarship from the Kherson City Council in 2025. We are proud that our students demonstrate not only excellence in their studies but also a strong civic commitment and dedication to their hometown.

On December 11, 2025, Valeriy Ivanovych Kuzmych, Professor of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and Associate Professor, delivered a lecture to physics and mathematics teachers of the Kherson region on the topic: "Non-standard Problems and Creative Thinking: Methodological Life Hacks for Preparing Students for Olympiads." About one hundred teachers from the region attended the lecture.

On December 10, Dmytro Klyonov, a PhD student majoring in specialty 121 Software Engineering at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics of Kherson State University, gave an online lecture titled “Future Profession”. The event was organized for members of the "NaVi" media club and brought together students from various educational institutions in the Kherson region.

Today, November 28, our students and lecturers met with KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovsky, First Vice-Rector Serhii Omelchuk, and Vice-Rector for Digitalization, Innovation, Investment Activities, and Scientific-Pedagogical Work Oleksandr Lemeshchuk.

This meeting became a bright conclusion to the in-person study week, filled with lectures, discussions, and excursions.

Today, November 28, students of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics had the opportunity to visit a unique exhibition of traditional embroidered towels (rushnyks) from the Kherson region, held in Ivano-Frankivsk.

Today, November 27, representatives of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics held an important career guidance meeting with 11th-grade students of Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum No. 11. Since the admission campaign is just around the corner, the conversation was highly practical and informative.

The event was conducted by:

• Tetiana Honcharenko — Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor at the Department of Physics;

• Volodymyr Tatochenko — Head of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis;

• Maksym Poltoratskyi — Assistant to the Rector for Digitalization, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Today, November 27, as part of the in-person study week, Vitaliy Novoselskyi, a PhD student in Software Engineering (Specialty F2) and a Full Stack Developer, held a lecture on the topic "The Anatomy of Firmware (Software) of Home Devices."

The lecture focused on demystifying embedded systems and exploring the practical aspects of security for Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

That is why today, November 27, representatives of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics met with 9th-grade students of Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum No. 5.

With the 10th and 11th grades still ahead, the students have the perfect opportunity to make a deliberate and conscious choice about their future profession—without any rush.

The students met with:

On November 26, the lecture "10 Commandments in the Digital Age. Soft Skills 5.0" was held, delivered by Maksym Oleksandrovych Vinnyk, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

The event took place as part of the in-person study week and gathered not only students of the FCSPM of KSU but also students of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, as well as PhD students and lecturers from both universities.

The topic of the lecture proved to be simultaneously modern, sharp, and debatable.

Today, November 26, students and lecturers of the FCSPM had the opportunity to attend a guest lecture by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Mathematical and Functional Analysis at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University — Andrii Vasylovych Zahorodniuk.

Today, November 26, 2025, students of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics had the opportunity to take a tour of SoftServe, a Ukrainian IT company specializing in software development and consulting services.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce students to the real working atmosphere of the industry and the modern requirements for specialists. A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the hard and soft skills necessary for a successful career start.

Dmytro Klonov, a PhD student majoring in Software Engineering (Specialty 121), delivered a lecture titled "The Future Profession in IT" for applicants and IT students from Kherson State University and Carpathian National University.

The session outlined key trends in the development of the modern digital industry and highlighted the most promising fields — ranging from software development to artificial intelligence and data analytics. The speaker also emphasized the importance of shaping a personal educational trajectory amidst rapid technological changes.

November 25 — The Faculty of Computer Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSPM) hosted a sports and recreational event: a workshop on Jakkolo (also known as Dutch Shuffleboard). This board game requires high precision, strategic thinking, and manual dexterity.

The masterclass was conducted by K.S. Kostrikova, Acting Head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education.

November 24 marked the start of the in-person study week at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics. This period is a wonderful opportunity for students not only to deepen their knowledge in the classrooms but also to renew live communication and connection.

The first day was marked by an important event: students of the Faculty attended the training "Emotional Intelligence: How to Understand Yourself and Others," organized by the KSU Center for Psychological Resilience and Well-being.
