    Artem Shevchenko, FCSFM Student, Wins Regional Chess Tournament

    Artem Shevchenko, a second-year student specializing in Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSFM), has once again demonstrated a high level of athletic prowess.

    From June 7 to June 21, 2025, the "I.Z. Postol Memorial" regional classical chess rating tournament was held in Odesa.

    Artem secured first place in the tournament and was awarded a diploma by the Odesa Oblast Chess Federation, the Odesa Oblast Chess and Checkers Clubs Association, and the Children and Youth Sports School for Chess and Checkers.

    "Information Systems and Technologies" Educational Program Successfully Accredited

    Great news for the faculty: the educational and professional program "Information Systems and Technologies" at the first (bachelor's) level of higher education has been successfully accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA). The accreditation was conducted under a simplified procedure.

    Congratulations to the program guarantor, the academic staff of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the students of the "Information Systems and Technologies" educational program on this important event!

    On May 20, 2025, a lecture titled "An Automated Approach to Ship Recognition Based on Acoustic Signals Using Adaptive Wavelet Filtering and Machine Learning" was held.

    The lecture was delivered by Professor Serhii Anatoliiovych Babichev, Doctor of Technical Sciences and faculty member of the Department of Physics.

    During the presentation, Professor Babichev introduced the audience to current challenges in the field of acoustic monitoring of surface objects and demonstrated innovative approaches to signal processing using wavelet transforms and machine learning algorithms. Particular attention was given to the development of an automated system capable of identifying ship types based on the spectral features of their acoustic signals.
