Artem Shevchenko, a second-year student specializing in Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSFM), has once again demonstrated a high level of athletic prowess.

From June 7 to June 21, 2025, the "I.Z. Postol Memorial" regional classical chess rating tournament was held in Odesa.

Artem secured first place in the tournament and was awarded a diploma by the Odesa Oblast Chess Federation, the Odesa Oblast Chess and Checkers Clubs Association, and the Children and Youth Sports School for Chess and Checkers.

Great news for the faculty: the educational and professional program "Information Systems and Technologies" at the first (bachelor's) level of higher education has been successfully accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA). The accreditation was conducted under a simplified procedure.

Congratulations to the program guarantor, the academic staff of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the students of the "Information Systems and Technologies" educational program on this important event!

Kherson State University invites IT students at the Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD levels to participate in a unique project to assess digital competencies under the Erasmus+ program!

🚀 What is Smart-PL? Smart-PL is an innovative online platform developed within the international Erasmus+ project, coordinated at KSU by Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi. The platform is specifically designed to assess students' IT skills in accordance with the needs of the modern labor market and European competency standards.

On May 30, the final event of the in-person learning week was held for students of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics. The concluding session was an open conversation titled “Being There: A Resource-Based Meeting Without a Script”, which took place at the Center for Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing of the Ivano-Frankivsk office of Kherson State University.

The event was facilitated by the Head of the Center, Tetiana Korniichuk.

May 29, 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics held the fourth day of its intensive full-time study week. This day was dedicated to the development of practical skills, design thinking, and meetings with the university's leadership. The day's program included the training "IT-Camera! Create a Video Resume and Case" to enhance video content creation skills, a lecture by Vice-Rector O.I. Lemeshchuk "Why Does an IT Specialist Need Design Thinking?", which revealed the importance of a human-centered approach in development; and a meeting with the Rector of KSU, Professor O.V. Spivakovsky, who shared "Secrets of a Successful Person."

Today, May 28, students and lecturers of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSFM) at Kherson State University had the opportunity to delve into the world of current scientific research and practical aspects of the IT sphere.

It's particularly gratifying to note the active participation of students and lecturers from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University in all lectures, which fostered broader discussions and enriched the educational process.

Today, May 27, 2025, marks the second day of the On-Campus Learning Week at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics in Ivano-Frankivsk.

The day began with an introduction to SoftServe, one of Ukraine’s leading IT companies specializing in software development and consulting services.

The program continued with a guest lecture by Vitalii Horelov, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, titled "Introduction to Android Mobile App Development."

On May 26, 2025, a week of in-person learning began at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics, promising to be rich and fruitful for both students and faculty.

The central event of the first day of in-person learning was a meeting for 3rd-4th year Bachelor's and 1st-year Master's students of IT specializations regarding their participation in testing within the framework of the SMART-PL project.

On Monday, May 26, 2025, a general meeting for IT students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics at Kherson State University (KSU) was held. The meeting focused on their participation in an innovative competency testing program as part of the EU Erasmus+ grant program.

On May 23, 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics at Kherson State University hosted an engaging lecture titled “Comparative Evaluation of Machine Learning Models for Rental Price Prediction Using a Web Service.”

The speaker was Professor Vitalii Mykolaiovych Kobets, Doctor of Economics and Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

On May 22, 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics at Kherson State University hosted a public lecture titled “Stages in the Development of Digitalization at Kherson State University.”

The speaker was Hennadii Mykhailovych Kravtsov, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

On May 22, 2025, as part of Science Days at Kherson State University, an open lecture was held by Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Olha Oleksandrivna Hnedkova, on the topic: “Improving English Language Skills Using Online Services and AI.”

The lecture was delivered by Professor Serhii Anatoliiovych Babichev, Doctor of Technical Sciences and faculty member of the Department of Physics.

During the presentation, Professor Babichev introduced the audience to current challenges in the field of acoustic monitoring of surface objects and demonstrated innovative approaches to signal processing using wavelet transforms and machine learning algorithms. Particular attention was given to the development of an automated system capable of identifying ship types based on the spectral features of their acoustic signals.

The speaker was Maksym Yuriiovych Poltoratskyi, PhD in Software Engineering (specialty 121), and Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Professor Nataliya Valeriivna Valko of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering gave an engaging and accessible lecture on the current capabilities, challenges, and limitations of artificial intelligence.

She covered topics such as the history of technological development, the principles of machine learning and neural networks, classification algorithms, as well as the specifics of generative models that form the basis of modern language and visual systems.

On May 15, as part of the scientific marathon organized by the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics at Kherson State University, an open lecture was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Banach–Tarski paradox—one of the most astonishing phenomena in mathematics.

The speaker was Professor Oleksandr Savchenko, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and a faculty member of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis.

He guided the audience through the mysterious realms of set theory, probability theory, and mathematical logic.
