Since October 2009, the Pedagogical Faculty of Kherson State University has hosted the first and only Friedrich Froebel Educational Center in Ukraine, a scientific hub of the International Froebel Society.

The main goals of the Educational Center are:

  • Coordinating the social and cultural development of children, youth, and adults in the Kherson region.
  • Reflecting on the historical experience of the development of preschool pedagogy in the context of traditions and innovations to preserve national identity and present cultural and educational potential at an international level.
  • Creating a unified educational environment in the context of integrating modern educational systems of Europe and the world.

Key tasks of the Educational Center include:

  • Researching and studying issues related to the upbringing and education of children.
  • Creating conditions for studying the cultural and pedagogical heritage of Friedrich Froebel.
  • Implementing, searching for, and developing optimal methods of child upbringing and education based on the German scientist’s system.
  • Providing activities aimed at assisting children with special needs and offering them educational support.
  • Organizing cooperation with Ukrainian and international public organizations.
  • Publishing and distributing periodicals, non-periodicals, and video materials related to the Center's activities.

The Center regularly hosts seminars and training sessions for practitioners in the field of preschool education on the topic "Integration of Modern Educational Systems of Europe and the World in the Context of Implementing Friedrich Froebel’s Pedagogical Ideas," as well as pedagogical readings, scientific student conferences, and master classes for preschool education workers from the city and region. These meetings showcase the close collaboration between theorists, researchers, and practitioners in preschool education.
