Professor Ivan Moisienko attended a seminar in Poland

Professor Ivan Moisienko participated in an international training and planning seminar on the Emerald Network in Ukraine, which took place from 30 April to 5 May in Poland. Nowosiółki Dydyńskie (village of Fredropol of the Przemysl County of Podkarpackie Voivodeship), within the ethnic Ukrainian territory of Nadziennia. The seminar is held within the framework of the project “Development of public environmental organizations and their cooperation for the expansion of the Emerald Network in Ukraine”, funded by the Polish-American Freedom Fund under the RITA - “Changes in the Region” program implemented by the Education for Democracy Foundation.

During the seminar the experience of Polish colleagues in the formation of the NATURA 2000 network was studied, with the aim of building a similar Emerald Network in Ukraine. During the seminar, a number of lectures by leading Polish environmentalists, including Pavel Palachyk, Radoslaw Michalski, were presented; got acquainted with the organization of protection of a number of objects of the NATURA 2000 network, got acquainted with the experience of protection of species and habitats of European importance, visited the future Turin National Park and more.
The seminar was friendly, although it was full of numerous discussions on ways to implement European nature conservation practice in Ukraine.
