On 10 November, Svitlana Martos, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian and Slavic Philology and Journalism at Kherson State University, held a lecture ‘Normative? Non-normative? In the linguistic portrait of the city’.
During the lecture, the speaker offered to take a trip through the streets of Kherson and answer the question of what the linguistic portrait of the city is. The audience immersed themselves in pleasant memories and shared their impressions and emotions. They shared their opinions on the proposed question.
The lecturer also introduced the concepts of urban studies and urban linguistics, as well as modern areas of urban research. Svitlana Martos focused on advertising and illustrated her speech with examples of advertising texts. During the discussion, the audience expressed their opinions on the norm or anomaly.
