From 7 to 11 August, Ivano-Frankivsk will host a summer research school for young geographers entitled ‘Research on the De-occupied Territories’. A number of events will be held at the Educational and Cultural Hub of Kherson State University.
The School is organised by the NGO ‘Ukrainian Union of Young Geographers’ in cooperation with Kherson State University, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and the NGO ‘Society of Researchers of Ukraine’.
The event will include discussions and debates, lectures and workshops, excursions and meetings to help understand and analyse various regional aspects and situations in the context of the aftermath of the war.
The School is attended by young geographers studying at various Ukrainian universities, including: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, and Uzhhorod National University.
Among the speakers are Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Doctor of Geography, Professor Daria Malchykova, who will speak on the topic ‘Problems of Modern Spatial Development of Kherson Region’, and Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Geography and Ecology, Doctor of Geography, Professor Ihor Pylypenko, who will cover the topic ‘Modern Kherson Region: Region, Cities, People’.
The summer school will include public discussions, various meetings, and excursions, including ‘From Stanislav to Ivano-Frankivsk’ and a visit to the Promprylab.Renovation plant. The school participants have also already visited the Educational and Cultural HUB to test the capabilities of the VR space.
