KSU Representatives Participated in the Inaugural Ceremony for the New Academic Year at the Pomeranian University
On October 18, a delegation from Kherson State University, led by Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, took part in the inaugural event to mark the beginning of the new academic year at Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Poland.
The ceremony was opened by the Rector of Pomeranian University, Dr. Hab. Zbigniew Osadowski.
“The start of the new academic year is both a time for reflection and future planning, as mentioned by the Rector and members of the Senate, as well as an opportunity to engage with partners, honor distinguished scholars, and celebrate the achievements of students.
I was particularly impressed by the ceremony of inducting students and doctoral candidates, which was accompanied by the singing of the student anthem and the taking of the oath,” noted Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
In his speech, the Rector welcomed the academic community, especially the first-year students, wishing them success in the new academic year. He assured them that they had made the right choice by selecting Pomeranian University, which greatly values its reputation and continuously works to strengthen its position and influence in shaping common values in society
"I can confirm this as the Rector of Kherson State University, which has had over 10 years of collaboration with Pomeranian University. We feel the support, which has grown since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from the people of Poland, and especially from the academic community. Our dual degree programs, internships, and exchange opportunities are expanding. I am here in Poland also to convey the pain our country is going through, to share the experience we have gained in our struggle, and to warn about the threat posed by one country’s desire to destroy another, to desecrate the democratic values that Ukrainians share with the civilized world", – emphasized Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
The Rector of KSU also presented an authentic gift to Rector Zbigniew Osadowski – a candlestick with candles blessed in an ancient Ukrainian church, symbolizing memory, respect for history, and faith in good.
“This is a unique piece crafted by artisans from Western Ukraine, using the traditional technique of Pysanka painting, which is included in UNESCO’s cultural heritage. Kherson State University had to relocate from the south to the west of the country and felt the unity of our people in the fight for freedom. And we feel this unity with Poland as well. Honoring our shared history, we believe in a peaceful and successful future for both Ukrainian and Polish students. Happy celebrations to the Pomeranian University community!” – concluded Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
