On January 23, 2025, the 9th Basel Peace Forum was held in Basel, Switzerland, dedicated to the theme “Rethinking Peace – Innovations for the Future”. The event was attended by more than 500 representatives from various fields of education, art, science, politics and civil society from around the world. In particular, Anastasiia Volianiuk, a lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Preschool and Primary Education at Kherson State University, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy for International Activities, became a participant of the Forum for the second time.
As part of the event, Anastasiia Volianiuk attended key panel discussions, among which special attention was paid to the topics of preserving peace, well-being and mental health, as well as the analysis of the forms and functions of ignoring war issues in global politics. Almost every speaker's speech and discussion touched on the topic of Ukraine and full-scale war, and important attention was paid to the connection between the common good and the personal.Important theses of the event:- While people compete for resources, they forget that the most valuable are the people themselves.- For each state, the main thing is the population, and for each institution, the collective.- Peace is important for the whole world, but only those who have lost peace truly understand this.
This year's forum was accompanied for the first time by a unique project "Visualization of Peace", which proposed rethinking images of peace through creative initiatives. The forum participants discussed how stereotypical ideas about peace affect our understanding of peace and conflict, and created new concepts of its representation. The forum was held in a dynamic hybrid format, which included panel discussions, debates and creative workshops. The experience of participating in the event and the knowledge gained will contribute to the development of international cooperation of the Pedagogical Faculty of KhSU and rethinking the quality of the educational process in the face of global challenges.Reference: The Basel Peace Forum is an annual international event aimed at finding creative approaches to resolving global conflicts and building sustainable peace.
