KSU Participates in an International Project Aimed at Implementing a Personalised Learning Model
Strengthening international project activities is one of the key priorities of Kherson State University. Currently, the university is involved in the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Capacity Building in Higher Education”.
The project “Students’ Personalised Learning Model, Based on the Virtual Learning Environment of Intellectual Tutoring “Learning with No Limits”” (SMART-PL) is a three-year initiative that will run until the end of 2025. The project is coordinated by Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia).
The project is implemented by a consortium of European and Ukrainian universities: Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), KU Leuven (Belgium), Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Poland), Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine), Kryvyi Rih National University (Ukraine), V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine), Khmelnytsky National University (Ukraine), Odesa Polytechnic National University (Ukraine), the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Kherson State University (Ukraine), and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (Ukraine).
The project’s budget is 678,270 euros.
On January 23-24, the first kick-off meeting of the project participants took place. During the meeting, the opportunities of the partner universities were presented, and the project’s main tasks were outlined. Kherson State University was represented by Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, who is the project coordinator from our university, Vice-Rectors Alla Tsapiv, Maksym Vinnyk, Oleksandr Lemeshchuk, and Head of the International Initiatives and Project Management Department Yevheniia Revenko.
The SMART-PL project aims to implement a personalised learning model based on a virtual learning environment for intellectual tutoring called “Learning with No Limits.” Intellectual tutoring includes a set of educational tools: the SMART online platform for personalised virtual learning and formative student assessment; a coworking center with equipment for organizing hybrid learning, which enhances the effectiveness of the learning process and provides additional opportunities for both educators and students. “Learning with No Limits” means that all students are welcome - regardless of age, personality, socio-economic status, educational needs, or ability to attend in person.
The project is divided into 7 work packages focused on fostering collaboration among partners to implement European personalised learning practices; improving university educational programs; increasing transparency and clarity of education and assessment for students (including informal education outcomes); reducing students’ anxiety about their professional preparation and building confidence in achieving effective results; improving the quality of educational materials; supporting student mobility, including virtual mobility at the university/national level and between universities/countries; and creating additional opportunities for higher education for people with disabilities and specific academic needs through inclusive education and implemented personalised learning models and hybrid technologies.
The KSU community is confident that participation in this project will not only ensure close collaboration between Ukrainian and foreign universities in the development of higher education but also contribute to the mutual integration of the best educational practices and innovations.
