Kherson State University continues the implementation of another major project under Erasmus+. KA2 Capacity Building in Higher Education. The project, titled “Students’ Personalised Learning Model, Based on the Virtual Learning Environment of Intellectual Tutoring ‘Learning with No Limits’” (SMART-PL), is scheduled to run until 2025.
This project was awarded to Kherson State University in 2022, and the first meeting of the participants took place in January 2023. Currently, the Kherson State University office in Ivano-Frankivsk is receiving technical equipment to create the conditions for the implementation of the project and training, including computers, a camera, a projector, a screen, and more.
Our partners include:
- Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia) – project coordinator;
- KU Leuven (Belgium);
- Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Poland);
- Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine);
- Odesa Polytechnic National University (Ukraine);
-V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine);
- Khmelnytsky National University (Ukraine);
- Kryvyi Rih National University (Ukraine);
- Institute of Higher Education, National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine;
- National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (Ukraine).
Grant amount: 678,000 euros, of which 72,000 euros are allocated to Kherson State University.
The project aims to:
1. Increase student motivation by implementing an individual system that focuses on the student as an independent individual. This will address students’ individual needs related to personalization and differentiation.
2. Enhance the transparency and clarity of the learning process and evaluation for students (including through non-formal education), reduce student anxiety, and foster a sense of confidence in achieving desired results.
3. Create additional educational capacities for people with disabilities or special academic needs to facilitate their access to higher education. This goal will be achieved through the use of inclusive education opportunities, individualized learning models, and hybrid technologies.
4. Improve higher education curricula by distributing learning outcomes across educational components and improving educational materials. Particular attention will be given to the development of competencies that directly influence successful learning outcomes.
5. Promote student mobility, considering the remote (virtual) format. This will involve both university/country levels and exchanges between academic sectors and forms of education (formal/non-formal/part-time) through the recognition and transfer of grades/credits.
6. Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the work of students, teachers, and administration.
7. Strengthen the interaction of all stakeholders (employers, the public, regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance), and create a flexible mechanism for adapting learning outcomes to labor market changes and modern technologies.
8. Provide the labor market with highly qualified specialists who have high competence levels, are familiar with EU quality standards, and meet current employer requirements.
9. Create a culture of lifelong learning.
“Some specific outcomes of the project will include the creation of the SMART online platform – an open virtual learning environment, and the opening of university co-working centers ‘Learning Without Limits’ at each partner university, as well as the creation of e-textbooks on competency-based personalised education under the guidance of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. There is a lot of exciting work ahead in expanding our capabilities to deliver quality education,” said Oleksandr Spivakovskiy, Rector of Kherson State University.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Department of International Initiatives and Project Management at Kherson State University, and especially to its head, Yevheniia Revenko, for the excellent work that led to securing this grant.
