KSU Representatives Begin Their Visit to Estonia within the Erasmus+ BURN Project

Tuesday, March 11, 2025

From March 10 to 14, a training visit to Estonia is taking place within the Erasmus+ BURN project – "Boosting University Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing in (Post-) War Ukrainian Nation."
Participants from five Ukrainian universities and three European institutions (University of Tartu, IPU, UL) are exchanging experiences and exploring European approaches to psychological support in universities. Representing Kherson State University, the visit includes:

• Tetiana Korniichuk – Head of the Center for Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing (CPRW)
• Mariia Pocheketa – Assistant at the Department of Psychology, Project Office Manager

On the first day of the training, Piret Tatunts (Manager of the HR Development Center at the University of Tartu) and Anna Gramburg (Workplace Wellbeing Specialist at the Institute of Education) presented how the university supports the mental well-being of its staff and students.

Following this, Jüri Allik, an academician and professor of experimental psychology, introduced the work of the Institute of Psychology, highlighting the evolution of psychological education in Estonia. The primary focus was on overcoming the Soviet legacy and modernizing bachelor’s and master’s programs. Triin Liin (Head of Research, Lecturer in Cognitive and School Psychology) and Pirko Töugu (Associate Professor at the Department of Developmental and Cognitive Psychology, Head of the Master's Program in Psychology) provided detailed insights into the restructuring of educational programs and the renewal of the institute's assessment system at all levels of higher education.

Clinical psychologist Kätlin Anni presented the latest research findings on personality profiles across 263 professions using genetic data from over 200,000 Estonians.

A key topic of discussion was the transformation of psychodiagnostic tools in psychological science. The use of educational materials in English is critically important for modern professional training, as it allows for aligning education with international standards and scientific research.

The exchange of experiences with European partners will help enhance the work of the Center for Psychological Resilience and Well-being at KSU, enabling even more effective support for students and faculty.
