Scholarships for Ukrainian scholars in the humanities or social sciences

This is an opportunity to work on your research in one of the EU research institutes: New Europe College in Bucharest (Romania) or the Centre for Advanced Studies in Sofia (Bulgaria). You will receive a monthly stipend of €850, a comfortable workspace, and access to all the resources of the institution.

You will spend up to ten months abroad - from October 2025 to March 2026.

The scholarship is organised by the New Europe College in Bucharest in cooperation with the Centre for Advanced Studies in Sofia. This is one of thousands of EU opportunities for Ukraine.

What do you get?
- five or ten months of residency in Bucharest or Sofia from October 2025 to March 2026.

- access to the library and electronic resources of the Institute.
- seminars, networking with scientists and participation in scientific events.
- a chance to publish your research article on the institute's resources.

How to apply?
This scholarship is for Ukrainian scholars who
- have a PhD in the humanities or social sciences;
- live in cities affected by the Russian invasion;
- have a good command of English.

What do you need to participate?
- An application filled in in English and in doc format. The file name is Familyname_ApplicationForm_2025.
- an up-to-date photo.
- description of the research project: purpose, methodology and list of references - up to 2200 words.
- scanned copy of the PhD certificate.
- For researchers who defended their dissertation 8 years ago or earlier - two letters of recommendation.
