KSU Representative Participates in a workshop in Vienna under the Erasmus+ program
Internationalisation and academic mobility of students and staff remain key priorities at Kherson State University, which continues its integration into the educational environment of the European Union.
Therefore, great attention at the university is paid to studying best practices from leading institutions worldwide.
Alla Tsapiv, Assistant to the Rector for Internationalisation, is currently participating in a three-day Erasmus+ workshop in Vienna (Austria) titled "Fostering Erasmus+ Academic Mobility in STEM Fields in Higher Education."
The event featured a comprehensive presentation from the Institute for Higher Education in Vienna on the results of research into student academic mobility. The report included data on students’ age, fields of study, gender balance, and the number of international students studying at Austrian universities. The presentation also addressed common barriers to mobility, including financial constraints, job loss for working students, separation from family or children, loss of a familiar social circle, and low motivation.
Speakers shared their own experiences of academic mobility and reflected on strategies to motivate students, particularly by offering STEM courses in English. Dual education was another key topic: involving students in employment during their studies. Specific case studies were discussed during a panel session.
“An interesting observation: the practice of recognising learning outcomes gained through non-formal education—whether during dual education programmes or through mobility, including virtual mobility—has already been implemented at Kherson State University,” noted Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy. “We wish you meaningful insights, Ms. Alla, and their successful implementation at our university. Sincere thanks to Svitlana Shytikova, Head of the Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, and Kateryna Zhdanova, representative of the Office, for the opportunities for improvement that the programme provides to Ukrainian universities,” the Rector added.
