On May 19, 2025, as part of the Science Days at the Faculty of Computer Science and Physics and Mathematics, an open lecture on the highly relevant topic "The Age of Artificial Intelligence: To Trust or Not to Trust?" (Prof. N.V. Valko) took place.

Professor Nataliya Valeriivna Valko of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering gave an engaging and accessible lecture on the current capabilities, challenges, and limitations of artificial intelligence.

She covered topics such as the history of technological development, the principles of machine learning and neural networks, classification algorithms, as well as the specifics of generative models that form the basis of modern language and visual systems.

Special attention was given to the issue of responsible AI usage. The professor emphasized that the central role in interacting with intelligent systems still belongs to humans:

“Artificial intelligence is a tool, not a replacement for humans. We must understand how it works in order to use it reasonably and safely.”

At the end of the lecture, attendees participated in an interactive survey on their level of trust in artificial intelligence and the possibility of delegating critical decisions to it.

The discussion sparked interest and demonstrated the audience’s readiness to think critically about emerging technologies.

Thank you to everyone who joined the lecture!

A recording of the lecture is available on the faculty’s YouTube channel.
