KSU Students Learn About IT Competency Testing Under the Erasmus+ Smart-PL Project
On May 26, a hybrid-format meeting of IT students took place at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics.
The gathering was dedicated to participation in an innovative competency testing initiative under the EU Erasmus+ grant program.
KSU is an active participant in the international Smart-PL project, implemented by a consortium of six Ukrainian universities. The project aims to strengthen collaboration between European and Ukrainian higher education institutions and to develop students' professional competencies in accordance with the European ESCO standards.
Students are offered a unique opportunity to undergo comprehensive testing of 16 key competencies in the field of data analysis (profession code 2511.3 - Data Analyst), including:
- Ability to analyze big data
- Ability to apply statistical analysis methods
- Ability to collect and integrate ICT data
- Ability to define data quality criteria
- Ability to perform data cleaning and normalization
- Ability to interpret current data
- Ability to use databases
- and other professionally relevant skills
After completing each test, students receive detailed recommendations for professional development:
– For beginners: comprehensive resources to master the fundamentals — books, online courses, documentation, tools, and communities to build skills at the Pre-Junior level;
– For intermediate learners: personalized recommendations tailored to their current qualification level at the Junior stage;
– For advanced learners: advanced resources to help achieve expert-level proficiency at the Strong Junior level.
In today’s rapidly evolving IT sector, employers place increasing emphasis on a candidate’s specific competencies. Participation in this program allows students to:
- Objectively assess their current professional skill level
- Benchmark themselves against European competency standards
- Identify areas for further professional development
- Increase their competitiveness in the job market
For students, this is a unique opportunity to assess and develop their IT competencies for free — and in line with European standards! The program is especially valuable for senior students who already have experience and a clear understanding of their career goals.
For additional information, students are encouraged to contact the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics or the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
A recording of the presentation is available on the faculty’s YouTube channel.
