Kherson State University has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. To mark the occasion, two flags - the Georgian and the Ukrainian - were raised on TSU’s flagpole.
On July 15 in Georgia, at the Tbilisi State University, KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy met with TSU Rector, Professor Jaba Samushia, and Vice-Rector, Professor Erekle Astakhishvili.
“As we agreed during our previous meeting in September 2024, we are expanding the opportunities for our cooperation, which has long been developing at the level of academic and scientific communities. This Memorandum is the result of nearly a year of work by our universities’ teams to coordinate and specify areas of collaboration. These include the exchange of academic materials and information, academic mobility for staff and students, organizing joint international conferences, research projects, and participation in events aimed at improving mutual understanding and cooperation. For us, it is important to have ties with a strong university that educates over 20,000 students, maintains long-standing connections with more than 150 universities worldwide, and is actively involved in ERASMUS+ programs,” said the Rector of KSU.
He also presented his colleague with a symbolic gift.
“In memory of our meeting last year, I gave Rector Jaba Samushia an art piece depicting the moment when he presented me with a T-shirt symbolizing the friendship of our two nations and bearing the inscription ‘Struggle on, brothers!’” emphasized Oleksandr Spivakovskiy.
In addition, he gifted the partners a clock with a wooden frame crafted in an authentic style by masters from the Carpathian region. On behalf of the Acting Rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, he also delivered a special letter of invitation for cooperation.
