Thursday, July 17, 2025

Kherson State University, together with seven universities from different countries around the world, has become a participant in the Erasmus+ SAFER project -“Sustainable Agri-Futures: Empowering Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Higher Education”.

The project is coordinated by the International Hellenic University (Greece). The KSU project lead is Professor Ivan Moysiyenko.

SAFER brings together partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Egypt, and Jordan to jointly address the challenges of sustainable development and climate change through the modernization of agricultural education.

Key project objectives:

  • Train students and professionals in sustainable farming practices;
  • Expand access to agricultural education through digital tools;
  • Promote international knowledge exchange in climate-oriented agriculture.

Within the SAFER framework, it is planned to:

  • Integrate five digital tools into the agricultural education system of each partner country;
  • Train at least 500 people across the participating countries;
  • Implement 20 sustainable agricultural practices in each participating country.

SAFER is not just a project but an innovative educational platform that combines digital technologies, scientific research, and practical experience, shaping a new model of global cooperation in agricultural education.

KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskiy emphasized that the participation of a university with a strong academic base in the Faculty of Biology, Geography, and Ecology is another contribution to the recovery of the Kherson region, traditionally an agricultural area, even under martial law.

Project partners:

  • International Hellenic University (Greece)
  • Varna University of Management (Bulgaria)
  • Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine)
  • Kherson State University (Ukraine)
  • Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (Egypt)
  • Heliopolis University (Egypt)
  • Al-Balqa Applied University (Jordan)
  • Al al-Bayt University (Jordan)

The project is designed for three years, with a total budget for Kherson State University of approximately €54,000.
