Students are invited to take courses on the study of the Holocaust and genocides!

Kherson State University, in collaboration with The Claims Conference University Partnership program in Holocaust Studies, invites applicants (bachelor's and master's levels) to register for courses on the history of the Holocaust and genocides in the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Kherson State University, in collaboration with The Claims Conference University Partnership program in Holocaust Studies, invites applicants (bachelor's and master's levels) to register for courses on the history of the Holocaust and genocides in the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

The courses will be taught by Yuriy Kaparulin, associate professor of the Department of National, International Law and Law Enforcement of KSU, visiting researcher and lecturer at the Weiser Center for the Study of Europe and Eurasia, University of Michigan (USA).

During the semester, three optional courses are offered:

The Crime of Genocide in the History of Humanity: From Ancient Times to the Holocaust and After (0.8 credits, for masters);

A Brief History of the Holocaust (0.8 credits, for bachelor's degrees);

World War II and the Holocaust in Ukraine (0.8 credits, for bachelor's degrees).
“During the course, you will have the opportunity to study in depth historical cases of international crimes, including genocide, among which the Holocaust of European Jews was a landmark. You will learn how the events of World War II and the Holocaust influenced the further development of international law. We will consider the genocidal experience of Ukraine in connection with the events of the Holodomor and the Holocaust, other genocides and acts of mass violence, including the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has been ongoing since 2014,” said lecturer Yuriy Kaparulin.

Registration for the course is open to all applicants of KhSU and free students and lasts until September 14 (inclusive).

Each course will last from mid-September to mid-December 2024 (12 classes, 1 class per week).

Classes are planned in a distance format using Zoom.

At the end, all applicants will receive a certificate of completion of the course.
