Natalia Kuzovova took part in an international online seminar

On September 30, 2025, the head of the department, Natalya Mykolaivna Kuzovova, joined the international online seminar "The Holodomor in the Light of the Theory of Famine". Natalya Mykolaivna delivered a report "Robert William Fogel (Robert William Fogel, 1926—2013) and his "theory of technophysiological evolution"". The event was organized by the Institute of History of Ukraine of the NAS of Ukraine. The event aimed to activate, based on the principles of interdisciplinary interaction, discussions among scientists on the potential of methodological approaches and methodological techniques for the study and scientific understanding of the crime of the Holodomor - in the context of Ukrainian, as well as global, human history.

Despite tens of thousands of publications on the issues of the Holodomor - the genocide of the Ukrainian people, Holodomor Studies still remain a direction that is only forming its own scientific identity. Its further development, as well as the successful integration of Ukrainian academic experience in studying the Soviet policy of creating famine into the space of world humanities, require systematic application by researchers of proven methodological tools for understanding the nature, causes/mechanisms and consequences of the phenomenon of famine itself, the policy of creating famine, which, in particular, are offered by the modern theory of famine.
