Tuesday, October 28, 2025

The Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of the Medical Faculty at Kherson State University has successfully completed the Winter School HEALTH TOURISM in Germany.

The event took place at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology / European Campus Rottal-Inn within the framework of the important project “HAW. International Modul B 2022–2025, Project 57602998”, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The KSU team included both teachers and students. The university was represented by Oksana Lavrykova, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy; associate professors Nataliia Vasylieva and Viktoriia Vereshchakina; and students Diana Malozomova, Anna Stadnyk, Veronika Tarasenko, Daria Aharysheva, and Artem Nikitchenko.

Key highlights of the program:

  • Interdisciplinary seminars: exploring modern European standards and practices in rehabilitation through the lens of the tourism industry, such as the use of natural resources and spa facilities in recovery programs.
  • Practical workshops: mastering advanced assessment and intervention methods that directly integrate ergonomic principles and physical activity into wellness programs.
  • Student presentations: participants had a unique opportunity to present their own research to an international audience, receiving valuable feedback and recommendations for further study.

Key outcomes for the department:

This participation was not only an experience but a strong catalyst for qualitative change:

  • Updating curricula: acquired knowledge and materials will be immediately incorporated into lectures and practical courses, providing students with access to the latest European trends.
  • Scientific development: newly established contacts open opportunities for joint international publications and research grants.
  • Professional growth of teachers: the experience of European partners contributes to improving teaching and mentoring practices.

“We are actively working on expanding this partnership! Our goal is not only to continue participating in such initiatives but also to launch academic mobility programs for our students and staff exchanges with the Deggendorf Institute of Technology,” summarized the Medical Faculty of KSU on its official page.
